In Ne mosquito pas performing artists from different disciplines come together to perform their 'failed' work. These can be scenes that were cut out of a show right before the curtain went up, ideas that never escaped the pages of one’s notebook or lingering fascinations from the past that for one reason or another never got expressed. The participating artists are invited to dive into their notebooks from recent or not so recent creative processes, their archive of rehearsal videos, their (often unreliable) memory of projects they were involved in, etcetera. These function as a starting point or breeding ground for a short solo performance that renders the failure within one’s artistic practice visible.
*** In this solo, I drew inspiration from the failed dances I’ve had to perform in life, channeling the ongoing struggle of proving myself as a capable artist. It reflects the deeper challenges and setbacks one faces in the pursuit of recognition within this demanding field, highlighting the resilience required to truly be seen. ***
Tour dates:
5th May/17th and 20th June/2nd September 2023,
Circularium Space (BE), Charleroi Danse Theatre (BE), Brasserie Atlas (BE) and Decoratelier (BE)
***Worst Case Scenario***
"Worst Case Scenario" is a duet that evolved from my solo in ne mosquito pas. There are two versions of it, one with Simon Van Schuylenbergh and another one with Mzamo Nondlwana. We explored our failed dances and choreographies, delving into the challenges of being seen and heard as artists. The piece finds creativity in moments where things seem to fall apart, pushing us to be inventive in how we express ourselves and redefine what it means to succeed.
